After Cash and Ray had hauled out the the furniture, Cash got to feeling better already. He knew that he could start again fresh in the morning like he had intended the day to go with concerning of getting a living room set. Ray had decided to drive back in to town to get the pizza as well as to show Cash around town. “First things first about Canton.” Ray began cutting his bull shit off and got serious for the moment as he fastened his seat belt. “I’m all ears.” Cash replied adjusting the passenger seat and getting comfortable. “Shit goes down around here. I know you’re from the city and I can appreciate all the crap that you’ve had to have seen and do and I’m just a country boy. I was born and raised right here in Canton. Shit goes down differently here.” Ray started turning on his wipers to remove the wet oak leaves that were plastered to the windshield as he backed out of Cash’s drive. “I’m all ears.” Cash repeated. “Ok. The best way I can put it into perspective for you...
It was rounding up towards midnight when he pulled up in his new driveway. It had been a long haul up from the city. His back was tight and his eyes were strained from staring threw the windshield wipers and misty rain. Rolling his broad shoulders back, he unbuckled his seat belt and looked out at his riverside cabin threw the beams of his yellow head lights. “Home.” He said to himself with relief and turned the ignition key back towards himself and killed the lights. For a moment he sat there in the still of nothingness to take in the darkness. There was not a street light or a neighbor in sight. In fact, until his eyes adjusted to the moonless night, he couldn’t see his hand in front of his nose much less his front door. Perfect he thought to himself and swung out his cab door for his thick legs to pour out. The dome light that shone above the rear view mirror illuminated the brim of his ball cap and not much else as the repetitive dinging bell reminded him that his keys w...
Cash was up the following morning bright and early with an agenda. He had his coffee brewing and his eggs in the fry pan. He knew that the ball was in his court concerning his next meeting with Negan, or so he thought so. He had no idea that Negan wasn’t one to look for an invite from anyone. He had showed up the first time unannounced. Cash should’ve take note. He had no idea that as he was changing the water in that jelly jar to keep his rose fresh that Negan was up and planning his day too and no, he wasn’t waiting for Officer Howlett to call or text much less to to magically appear to drink his liquor. He was going to him with that cat. The vet was coming by at 8 am to check River’s hooves and to give Officer Howlett’s new cat its vaccinations. To say that Negan was clock watching was an understatement. He was unsure what he would act upon if at all but what he definitely wanted was to be in Officer Howlett’s company regardless. The cat was his excuse and he’d find an ex...
